Dear reader,
We are happy to present to you the fourth issue of our project Newsletter! The Newsletter has a simple mission – to inform the public about our work and ongoing activities. The current issue covers activities from January to mid–March 2021.
Undoubtedly, “caravan”, but on-line one, was the keyword of our efforts throughout this period. Why? Between Monday, 22 February and Tuesday, 2 March, 2021, EU TACSO 3 organized European Commision’s or DG NEAR “visit” and discussion on key issues, concerns, efforts, needs and aspirations of civil society in the Enlargement region. Main stakeholders, over 300 representatives of civil society, public authorities, donors and other stakeholders from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey took part in the discussion on the Guidelines for EU Support to Civil Society in the Enlargement region for the period 2021-2027, which is considered a key document for the further development of civil society. The Guidelines, and in particular their results framework, provide concrete objectives, targets, indicators and benchmarks in support of civil society development.
During the next and concluding step, all of the comments and feedback received will be reviewed and considered in the final revision of the Guidelines document. It is expected that the final Guidelines document will be launched at a regional event held later in spring 2021.
In parallel, EU TACSO 3 continued its regular training and exchange efforts: two P2P On-demand events, training on child rights in Turkey, and EU thematic programmes in Montenegro were held during January and February. Consultation meeting on input by civil society to programming of Civil Society Facility (CSF) for 2021-23 was organised in Serbia during end of February.
Also, in-depth research on the needs and capacity of regional civil society networks was presented and discussed, two new Manuals on Information Activism, Data Collection and Data Management (in Turkish) were published.
Finally, in its efforts to promote and showcase the work of civil society during COVID-19 pandemic, EU TACSO 3 established cooperation with the on-line news portal Nezavisen Vesnik, which started publishing series of articles “Success stories” as a communication effort to bring CSOs work closer to ordinary citizens.
